SCOTTISH WILDLIFE TRUST: FIFE AND KINROSS MEMBERS CENTRE

Non-members will be made very welcome at all events.

We advise sturdy footwear and suitable clothing for outdoor events. There will be a £2 admission
charge for indoor events unless stated otherwise.

MARCH

Thu 18 March—The Natural History of Chile

Illustrated Talk by Niall Corbet, SNH, 7.30 pm Kinross Church Centre, joint with Kinross Camera Club.

APRIL

Wed 21 April - Eden Estuary Present and Future

Ranald Strachan, Fife Coast & Countryside Ranger will give an illustrated talk on the wildlife of the Eden Estuary and the sustainable coastal development project (SUSCOD).

MAY

Sun 2 May - International Dawn Chorus Day

Join the reserve convener for an early morning walk to enjoy and identify birdsong.

Sun 2 May - Creatures of the Intertidal Zone

Search for molluscs with William Penrice. Warm clothes, wellies preferable, small buckets or sandwich type boxes so that specimens can be kept, identified and then released. Field guides if you have them.

Sat 8 May - Kilminning towards Fife Ness

Enjoy a walk along the coastal path to see the spring flowers, birds and sea views. Led by Jean Stewart and Margaret Carstairs.

Sat 15 May National Moth Day at Cullaloe

A moth and bat detecting evening on the reserve.

Sat 5 June - Coffee Morning

Supper Room, Town Hall, St Andrews

Please attend and support our fund raising and enjoy meeting other members over coffee.

10.00 am to 12 noon. All contributions of plants, baking, produce, books, bric-a brac and raffle prizes are welcome. Offers of help and donations to Elizabeth Adams 01333 450267. Admission £1.50.

Sat 12 June - Botanical Training Day with Ben Averis

An opportunity to learn simple botanical monitoring techniques. No experience necessary. The volunteers who come along to the day will have the opportunity to use the skills learned to assist with the monitoring of wildflowers on our reserves in Fife.

Sat 19 June - Visit to Pittarthie Farm, Elie

Patrick Bowden Smith will show us his wildlife friendly farm and talk about the conservation work and water management that has been carried out there.

Sun 27 June - Discover Pond Dipping (part of National Insect Week)

Book your place for a one hour session at Cullaloe reserve.

Sun 11 July - An Afternoon Walk at Auchtermuchty Common

Kate Morison and Gordon Corbet will lead this outing to look at the flowers, birds, butterflies and other insects.

Sat 24 July - A Visit to Three SWT Reserves in Fife

A day’s outing to Barnyards Marsh, Fleecefaulds Meadow and Bankhead Moss by coach or cars. If numbers are sufficient, a coach will start in Kinross. Break for lunch (BYO or Buy) in Ceres.

Guided walks, nature trail, pond dipping and much more!

Fri 13 August - Moths and Bats at Bankhead Moss

Tim Brain will lead an outing to trap and identify moths. We will also try to identify bats using a detector. This will be weather dependent so phone if in doubt about the conditions.

Alison Irvine will lead this walk to explore the area around the reservoir.
