Outdoor joint meeting with the Fife Fungal Interest Group

Tony Wilson of the Fife Ranger Service will lead a walk and teach us more about our fascinating mushrooms and toadstools. Meet at the car park at the start of the forest road beside the A985 about a mile west of High Valleyfield. Contact Tony Wilson, 01334 473047.

Wildlife of Southern Africa

Tuesday 8th, Crail Parish Church Hall, 19.30

Dr Jo Taylor, local mycologist, has recently moved to Fife following some years based in South Africa (near Cape Town) and Botswana. She will tell us about the fascinating and beautiful wildlife of those areas. Contact Stephanie Thrower 01333 312631.


Guddling Among the Graves

Tuesday 22nd, Chemistry Department, North Haugh, St Andrews University, 19.30

Well known author, mountaineer and professional speaker Hamish Brown will be lecturing on the weird and wonderful things to be found among Scotland's graveyards! Come along to find out about the preacher who caused dozens of fatalities, the man who insisted on being buried vertically, and the person who died on April 31st, among other strange and surprising topics. To help with fund-raising, this meeting will be by ticket only, available from the St Andrews Tourist Information Office or Janet Butler (01334 850521) or on the night, price £2.50 members, £5 non-members; please show your membership card.

Marine Policy and Campaigns in Partnership with WWF

Wednesday 18th, The Lomond Centre, Glenrothes, 19.30

Wildlife of the Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica; Members' Centre AGM

Wednesday 25th, St Andrews Town Hall Supper Room, 19.30

The Annual General Meeting will be followed by an illustrated lecture on the birds and marine mammals of this fascinating and beautiful region, by Rob Armstrong. Contact Jean Stewart 01334 475763.


Craigencalt Ecology Centre

Thursday 26th, St Peter's Episcopal Church, Hope Street, Inverkeithing, 19.30

Outdoor Meeting: Winter Birds at Morton of Pitmilly

Saturday 21st January, meet at Morton of Pitmilly (NO 582 128), 10.00

Donald and Jean Stewart will lead this outing to look for winter finch flocks and other birds on farmland which is managed for wildlife. Parking is available: turn up Station Road in Kingsbarns, opposite the church, and take the first right to Morton. Contact Jean Stewart 01334 475763.
