TREE GROUP NEWS
In autumn we supplied 190 trees to the NTS at Kellie Castle . By the time this appears we will have planted 120 trees at Kinaldy Meadows and will have supplied 230 hedging plants for a site near the Eden estuary.
During the summer the tree nursery is visited on a fortnightly basis to keep the trees weed-free and to check for damage to the trees and deer fence. The stalwart body of volunteers who help with this has gradually been dwindling so if anyone would like to help could they please contact me. Each visit involves an hour or two of gentle hoeing. It is a good way of getting to grips with tree identification and the birdsong is terrific in the spring (woodpeckers drumming, Blackcap singing). Finally, thanks to everyone who has helped with the group in the last year. The proceeds from the 2003/2004 planting raised £390 for the Members Centre.
