Pond Life

An illustrated lecture by Norman Elkins, Fife representative of the British Trust for Ornithology and editor of Fife Bird Atlas. Joint meeting with Kinross Camera Club.

Tree Group Workout

Saturday 12th, meet Hill of Tarvit (NO 382 119) tree nursery in the Walled Garden, 10.00-12.00

Lift trees at the Hill of Tarvit. All helpers are welcome (especially if you can bring a spade), but the meeting is weather-dependent, with back-up dates of 13th or 19th February. Car parking is available in the main car park or near the cottage. Please contact Paul Blackburn, 01382 542826.

Lisa Schneidau from SWT headquarters will describe the mixture of politics and conservation behind the current beaver reintroduction project.

Scottish Butterfly Populations

Wednesday 2nd, Kirkcaldy Parkway Hotel 19.30

Richard Buckland of Butterfly Conservation Scotland will explain how recent survey work has revealed the impact of global warming on Scottish butterfly populations.

Wildlife of the Eden Estuary

Wednesday 6th, Craigrothie Village Hall, 19.30

Les Hatton of the North-East Fife Ranger Service, who manages the estuary reserve, will describe more aspects of its wildlife than we will have been able to encounter at our meeting in March.

Sunday 22nd, meet in the car park between Crail & Fife Ness (NO 631 088), 14.00

Join us to start Wildlife Week, June 4th-12th 2005

Outdoor Meeting: Barnyards Marsh and Kilconquhar Loch

Saturday 4th, meet main entrance to Barnyards Marsh, 50 m on right of minor road by Kinneuchar Inn, Kilconquhar, 14.00. Car park is across the road from the inn (NO 484 021). The marsh is usually wet underfoot, so wear wellies!

Reserve convener Albert Lawrie, with Gordon Corbet, will lead a walk round the marsh, concentrating on plant life and invertebrates; then we will move on to look at the birds on the loch. Contact Albert Lawrie, 01333 330480.
