TREE GROUP NEWS

There are approximately 1300 trees in the tree nursery and about 600 of these should be ready for planting at the end of the season. So that planting can coincide with the National Tree Week, provisional work dates (subject to weather conditions) are :- Saturday 13th November, lift & bag trees at the Hill of Tarvit; Saturday 27th November tree planting (site to be arranged). Tree planting is good fun but it does require plenty of people to help with the lifting, transport and planting. It may be that there are not enough volunteers for us to continue to offer a tree planting service so I'll review the activities at the end of the year. Last year's tree planting raised £390 for the branch. Now is a good time to collect seed. The stock in the tree nursery comes from members who raise the seedlings at home. If any new members wish to help with this notes on seed germination are available and I'd particularly encourage the collection of acorns this autumn. If you'd like to help with any of the tree group activities, or know anyone who would like some trees my contact details are below.
