TREE GROUP ACTIVITIES
Can you help?
On Valentines Day the Tree Group completed the winter programme by planting 130 hedging plants at Kinaldy Meadows, Cameron. This brought the total number planted during the winter to 260, with an additional 100 trees supplied to the Monimail Tower project and 30 hollies to Fife Council for Coul Den. The planting was completed largely thank to the assistance of the St Andrews University Tree and Frog Society who surprisingly returned after getting a soaking during the November planting.
The tree nursery at the Hill of Tarvit is well stocked for the current growing season and thanks to all who have supplied seedlings. During the spring and summer months the nursery at the Hill of Tarvit requires weeding on a fortnightly basis. To operate successfully the tree group relies on a large pool of volunteers and recently I have not been able to motivate enough people, particularly for the plantings. So I am looking for someone to help with raising volunteers for the planting season (i.e Nov - Dec and Feb - Mar). If you would like to help with this or with the weeding my contact details are below.
